Gemalto is the world leader of the production and the marketing of smart cards.

CA by family of products is distributed as follows:

  • Chip cards (96,2%): microprocessor cards (n° 1 world), charts to be scraped, with magnetic band and memory.

    • the group in parallel proposes software and services associated with charts (council, personalization, formation, etc).
    • CA by market is ventilated between mobile telephony (60,4%), finance departments and television with toll (24,2%), identity and safety (12,3%) and, public telephony (3,1%)

  • Final of payment (3,8%).

With at the end of 2006, the group has 31 sites of personalization and 20 production sites in the world.

The geographical distribution of CA is the following one: Europe-means East-Africa (55,5%), Americas (22,4%) and Asia (22,1%).

The premises of the undertaking are located at the Netherlands.

History

  • 6/2/2006 - Axalto amalgamates with Gemplus. The new group takes the name of Gemalto.

  • 6/13/2006 - MFA gives its downstream to the APERTURE of Gemalto on Gemplus.
  • 8/5/2006 - the US government places its first order of Passeport S biometric to Gemalto.
