Gaulle Lyons
The Lyons Gaulle was one of the three Provinces (Aquitaine, Belgium and Lyonnaise) created by Auguste in 27 av. J. - C. of the Gaulle Roman (in addition to the Gaulle Narbonnese).
Its geographical form bandages some on the basis of Lyon to include the current Brittany peninsular can appear aberrant in our modern eyes. She is explained for several reasons:
- Ethnic: she takes again the division of Gaules in central Aquitaine, Gaulle and Belgium (see the War of Gaules of Jules César: Gallia is omnis divided in leave very… ).
- Political: she limits the central importance of Gaulle, by attaching Gallic tribes to the provinces close to Aquitaine and Belgium.
Gaulle Lyons was a imperial Province managed by a Préfet installed with Lugdunum (Lyon). It have in particular for Severe governor Septime the future emperor of North-African origin. The privileged role of Lugdunum was reinforced by the presence of a monetary Atelier imperial then federal Sanctuaire of the three Gaules, dedicated to the worship of Rome and Auguste. Principal cities: Lugdunum , Augustodunum (Autun, remains of a temple Gallo-Roman and main door of the city), Lutecia (Paris, vestiges of the thermal baths and an amphitheater), Juliomagus (Angers), Condate (Rennes), Rotomagus (Rouen), Caesarodunum (Tours), Augustodurum (Bayeux), Colonia Forum Segusiavorum (Feurs), etc
Under the Tétrarchie, Gaulle Lyonnaise is divided into four provinces: Lyons I (valleys of the Saone and To combine it), Lyons II (current Normandy), Lyons III (Armorique and Anjou) and Lyons IV (Ile de France), all attached to the prefecture of the court of Gaules.
Breton installed the into Lyons one III revolted against the imperial capacity about years 450, Lyons I was occupied by the Burgondes towards 460, the Roman presence remained into Lyons II and IV until 486 with Ægidius and Syagrius.
