Galite

Galite is a Archipel of island S rock of ic origin Volcan located at the north of the Tunisia.

Attached to this country, it is located at 38 kilometers in the North-West of the Cape Serrat, not nearest to the Tunisian coast, of which it is separated by the channel from Galite. It is with 65 kilometers in the North-East of the town of Tabarka and with 150 kilometers of south of the Cape Spartivento (southern of the Sardinia). The principal island located at the center of the archipelago, Galite, measures 5,4 kilometers length (of is in west) and 2,9 kilometers of width (in its oriental party). Broadside by cliffs 200 meters height, it can be approximate only by the bay of Escueil de Pasque (in the south of the island). Its point more raised, culminating with 391 meters, is the End of Somme (Great top) which is overcome by a tower of monitoring. One goes up there by a rocky path which is the best transportation route of the island. This path crosses Jardin S out of rib stalls where, in spite of the scarcity of the topsoil, push Figuier S, cactus, olive-trees, Vigne and enough of Céréale S to provide for the needs for some fishing families of . Formerly wooded, the island shelters nothing any more but one bush relatively low. The Piton of the east, a peak in form of cone located at the south-east of the island, culminates with 360 meters.

The discovery of Gargoulette S punic and Monnaie S Romans indicates that the island is populated as of the Antiquité. Most of the inhabitants - Tunisians of birth but of origin Italy - did not leave in France towards the Années 1960, following the independence of the country, to settle in the commune of the Lavandou and the villages surrounding.   • Galitons of the east: Called the Dogs , they are located from one to two kilometers at the North-East of the principal island. This group is composed of the three named rocks Gallo, Pollastro and Gallina. Gallo is tallest of the three rocks and measurement 119 meters height.
