Furius Dyonisius Filocalus

Furius Dyonisius Filocalus or Philocalus is a lapidary (specialist in the engraving of epigraphic inscriptions ) Roman of the end of the 4th century.

He invents the Caractère philocalien, at the request of the pope Damase I {{er}}, who ordered that the tombs of the Christians are sought. He is used for the epitaph S of the tomb stones of the Martyr S reporting the circumstances of their passion.
