Fugu

Also called fish sphere , the fugu ( Takifugu ) is a fish known to cause very serious intoxications with the Tétrodotoxine.
The fugu does not produce this toxin in artificial medium. Traces were found by it in the red algas of the species Jania (Rhodophyta). One can isolate from this alga a bacterium which, cultivated, will produce this poison. This one is probably digested with the alga by the animals, which accumulate the tétrodotoxine thereafter. The fugu is him there even resistant.
With the Japan, only the cooks having a license granted by the State are authorized to prepare this mets gustativement regarded as very refined, although poor. It is useful in Sashimi (fish cut in fine sections, one can see the crockery through fish) and in Nabe (a kind of molten). To withdraw toxin from it, they should in particular remove the liver, the intestines and the gonades.
It is also Puffy, the mascot of the free Operating system OpenBSD. Homer Simpson failed to be poisoned with Fugu in the episode a poison named Fugu
