Froeningen is a common French, located in the department of the Haut-Rhin and the area Alsace.

Geography

440 Hectares including 63 hectares of forest communal.

History

The village of Frœningen belonged to the seigniory of Altkirch (with the counts de Ferrette, then of 1324 with the Traité of Westphalia in 1648 with the Habsbourg).
the castle, quoted since 1312, had the same owners as the village. It was set fire to by the Swiss ones in 1468, rebuilt to nine with 18th, set fire to again in 1739, rebuilt beginning 19th, and destroyed in 1917.
Importante Jewish community until the end of 19th.
