French Coordination for the Decade

November 10th, 1998, the General meeting of the the United Nations proclaimed the first decade of twenty-and-unième century and the third millennium, the years 2001 to 2010 international Décennie of the promotion of a culture of non-violence and peace with the profit of the children of the world (text of the resolution).

Presentation

The French Coordination for the Decade of the culture of non-violence and peace is an association law 1901 which was creates in November 2000 and gathers associations which wish to coordinate each other to promote the international Decade for the promotion of a culture of the Non-violence and of Paix in France.

The ambition of association is to support the passage of a culture of violence to a culture of non-violence, for many children and of the teenagers of the whole world. This ambition is detailed in its ethical charter (ethical Charter).

In 2007, it joins together more than 65 associations (cf the list below), account more than one ten local coordinations (cf the list below) and received the support of more than 130 personalities which constitute its Comité of sponsorship (cf the list below). It is chaired by Christian Renoux.

It chairs the international Coordination for the Decade of the culture of non-violence and peace.
Elle takes part in the " work group; Culture of peace " French Commission on UNESCO.

Countryside Education with non-violence and peace

In the resolution declaring the Decade international of promotion of a culture of non-violence and peace with the profit of the children of the world, “the General meeting of the United Nations… invites the Member States to take the necessary measures so that the practice of non-violence and peace is taught on all the levels of their respective companies, including in the educational establishments. ” (A/53/25 Resolution of November 19th, 1998, § 3).

A Letter-petition

To implement this resolution of UNO in France, French Coordination for the Decade launched, on September 21st, 2002, international Journée of peace, a campaign which requires of the Minister for state education:
- the official introduction of the formation to non-violence and peace on all the levels of the French education system, as of the nursery school, with a program envisaging of the schedules, a progression, tools and methods teaching.
- the integration of this teaching in initial training and continues teachers.
- the access of all the adults, working on a school site, with a formation with the management of the conflicts.
To date, more than 7.000 signatures was joined together.

Forum " Non-violence with the école"

Within the framework of this countryside, French Coordination for the Decade organizes all the autumns, since 2003, a Forum " Non-violence with the école". The 3rd Forum was held with the Palais of Luxembourg in November 2005 with the participation of Dominique Voynet (Green-PS) and of Gisele Gautier (UDF), sénatrices.
Le 4th Forum took place with the Palais Bourbon on December 9th, 2006 and was the occasion for the French political parties, of the trade unions of teachers and associations of parents of pupils to express their position on education with non-violence and peace and on its official introduction into the school programs.

School program

In November 2005, French Coordination published its Programme for education with non-violence and the peace (50 p.), which aims at presenting what can be an education with non-violence and peace within the school framework. It was written by an group of expert joined together by the Commission Education of French Coordination. Teachers, inspector of State education, psychologists, school nurse, trainers and formative with non-violence and the school mediation in mileu built a school program according to the standards of State education. This Programme , which was already diffused to thousands of specimens, is available near French Coordination. Its translation in Italian was published in Padoue in November 2006 by the Comitato Italiano per it Decennio and the town hall of Padoue.
La French Coordination for the Decade hopes that a law will be voted quickly at the Parliament to introduce into the school programs this formation with non-violence and peace as that was the case at the Spanish Parliament in November 2005.

International fair of the Peace initiatives

1er International fair of the Peace initiatives - 2004

French Coordination for the Decade coorganisé the first International fair of the Peace initiatives took place June 4th, 5th and 6th 2004 in Condorcet Space of Cité of Sciences and Industry, in Paris, with the Catholic aid /Caritas France and CCFD (catholic Committee against the hunger and for the development), under the high patronage of UNESCO, in partnership with Non-Violence XXI, Partage, Le Monde , the Life , Télérama and RFI and with the support of the Town hall of Paris and the French Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Its godfather was Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, Nobel Prize of Peace.
Ce Salon brought together, on 84 stands, 114 exhibitors who presented their peace initiatives and French and international non-violences and it knew one big hit with the participation of more than 10.000 visitors.

2e International fair of the Peace initiatives - 2006

French Coordination for the Decade organized June 2nd, 3rd and 4th 2006 the second International fair of the Peace initiatives and, in collaboration with the international Coordination for the Decade, the first International meetings " Actors of peace for a culture of non-violence" in the Center of the Congresses of the Villette, with the Quoted of Sciences and Industry, in Paris: 116 stands, 168 associations exposing out of three levels, 7 interactive roundtables, 60 crossroads, 30 workshops, a Space youth and exposures. 300 organizations took part in the Living room and the International meetings.
De many actors of peace and Non-violence come from the whole world were present there of which Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, Nobel Prize of peace, and Hildegard Goss-Mayr.
Ont summer partners of this second Living room the CCFD, Non-violence XXI, Division and the Catholic aid /Caritas France. It is supported by Pax Christi France. The partners media are Le Monde , the Life , Télérama , RFI and TV5 Monde. This second Living room was held under High patronage of UNESCO and received the financial support of the French Ministry of the foreign affairs and the Town hall of Paris. It accommodated 13.000 participants. It was the subject of an emission of diffused France 2 on June 25th, 2006.

3e International fair of the Peace initiatives - 2008

French Coordination for the Decade will prepare the third International fair of the Peace initiatives which will take place May 30th, 31st and th and June 1st, 2008 in the City of Sciences and Industry in Paris. It will accommodate the International meetings of the culture of non-violence and peace.
