Freelancer

Freelancer is a video game of Space Opera, conceived by Chris Roberts, developed by DIGITAL Anvil, published under PC by Microsoft Game Studios, left on March 4th, 2003 in the United States, on May 27th, 2003 to France, where the player incarnates Edison the Trent, a freelance pilot who carries out mainly missions remunerated in space. Once the finished principal scenario, the player is free to choose the activities which it wishes to practice, in a dynamic universe where alliances are tied according to its acts.

The play is composed of 40 systems, much more with the mods available on Internet, of 150 places of landings, 3.000 trade route, and 2.000 people distributed in 50 different factions.

The downloadable mods have for each one a suitable version. However, at present, the mods of Freelancer are declining and the majority of the players return to the original play. However, the version 4.83 discovery offers some innovations with new vessels, weapons and systems (following the example Omicron Delta and Omicron Lost).

It is advised to use Freelancer MOD Manager for the mods.

Prolog

In XXIIIère century, the war makes rage since more than one century… the human ones do not cease fighting battle for the most invaluable good: the Ground. Two camps are opposed, Alliance and the Coalition. The latter was close to gaining the conflict finally, tens of years and the million victims later. After having conquered the Ground and Mars, it is attacked has Jupiter. Alliance decided to design vessels dormitories which contained the human ones deadened to send them to the borders universe, in order to move away from the conflicts which divided the men since so a long time… 5 vessels dormitories left the base of Alliance and wiped the attack of the Coalition: Bretonia, the Rhineland, Hispania, Kusari and Liberty. They managed to escape in spite of the stopping from the Coalition and reflect the course towards the sector of Sirius. During centuries, one long period of colonization began on 4 planets distant from/to each other: Manhattan, where Liberty lands, Nouveau Berlin, where the Rhineland arrived, Nouveau London, where Bretonia was posed and New Tokyo, planet of reception of Kusari. Hispania, seriously damaged at the time of the battle to the Jupiter accesses, was lost and arrived in the system Omicron Alpha. Its people were divided into 2 criminal factions: parias, which remained in the system and colonized a close planet: Malta; and the Corsairs, who fled towards Omicron Gamma, with the other end of the Sirius sector, to colonize the Crete planet… Following these events, the Sirius sector was cut out in 4 empires, each one bearing the same name as the vessel-dormitory which had colonized it (Bretonia = British; The Rhineland = German; Liberty = American; Kusari = Japanese). 800 years after the arrival of Liberty on Manhattan (first colony), the history starts…

Synopsis

You incarnate Edison the Trent, coldly arrived on capital planet Manhattan, in the system of Liberty. You learn that you have escaped little with an unquestionable death at the time of an attack aiming at a station of Liberty, Free port 7. By the need, you will have to in kind carry out some missions for the local police against payment (vessel) and appropriations. Quickly, the things are corsent after having foreseen your old friend (of the name of Samus Lonnigan). This one, escaped about the hospital where it was neat of some wounds received during the explosion of Free port 7, speaks by enigma and informs you of a great danger, and advises you to leave Liberty. Being unaware of its warnings, Edison continues to rent its services with the police force. However, at the time of one return with your contact of the police force, Jun' KB Zane (alias Juni), the things turn badly and you are constrained with the escape through space, trying to discover the mystery surrounding an artefact Extraterrestre which would seem to poke the covetousness of a nearby system, the Rhineland…
