Frederic Back
Frederic Back (April 8th 1924, Saarbrucken, Germany -) is a painter, Illustrateur, Muraliste and Réalisateur of Canadian Cartoon film of international repute. It is especially known for its film the Man who planted trees .
Biography
Born Alsatian parents , it studies with Strasbourg, the École Estienne of Paris, and in the Art schools of Rennes before being established with Montreal in 1948.In the Art schools of Rennes, Mathurin Méheut, painter and illustrator, teaches to him. This meeting, will mark Frederic for the life, at the human and artistic level. It is at that time qu" it begins its career from painter and exposes in particular his works to the Living room of the Navy, with Paris in 1946 and 1947.
On its arrival with Montreal, in 1948, he teaches with the École of the Piece of furniture, where he replaces Paul-Emile Borduas, and with École of the fine arts of Montreal where he will meet Alfred Pellan.
He enters to the service of Radio-Canada in 1952 as illustrator, creator of visual effects, decorations and models for many cultural, educational and scientific emissions.
In 1967, it paints the canopy of the subway station Place-of-Arts with Montreal.
In 1968, it joined the team of the studio of animation of Radio-Canada, created by Hubert Tison. From 1968 to 1993 Frederic will carry out 10 court-measurings, like various special presentations for the programs of the Société Radio-Canada. The films of Frederic are acclaimed on all the continents, the recognitions and the many prices recognize the talent and the work put at contribution for each film. Frederic Back will be nominated four times at the Academy Awards and will gain two Oscars for the Oscar of best cartoon film: the first for Crac! (1982) and the second for the Man who planted trees (1987). With him only, the film the Man who planted trees gained more than 40 prices in film festivals a little everywhere in the world.
The cinema of animation is also a means of transmitting its message ecologist and of sensitizing the public of the whole world to the environmental causes which are due to him in heart. Founding member of the " Company To overcome Pollution" and of the " Québécois company for the Defense of Animaux" , he answers the relative questions with the cinema of animation and with the environment, intervenes in the schools, famous of the books, creates posters and continuous to plant trees.
