Forum of César
The Forum of César is the first of the imperial forums of Rome. The new place was arranged on the space devoted to the political administration of the city, this function being previously reserved for the Forum Romanum . Consequently the aspect of the site will be in conformity with the architectonic requirements.
Chronology
Supposed the date of the beginning of work of the Forum wanted by Jules César is provided by Cicéron which, in 54 av. J. - C., informed his/her friend Titus Pomponius Atticus whom it had acquired on behalf of the Roman dictator an adjacent surface with the Romain Forum for the realization of a place.
In 46 av. J. - C., the forum and the Temple of Venus Génitrice were inaugurated.
The Forum was in addition supplemented by Auguste after the death of the dictator. The maintenance work probably undertaken by Domitien, was finished by Trajan, which inaugurated the Temple again the same day as the Colonne of Trajan in 113.
Other work of restoration was undertaken by Diocletien following the fire of 283. With this occasion, the columns of the gantries were removed and the closed frontage of the temple.
