The forlane - Italian furlana , frioulane - is a traditional Danse originating in the the Friuli, of fast rate/rhythm. Introduced in France by Andre Campra at the end of the 17th century, it became a dance of court. Fallen a long time in disuse, it was used by Chausson in its Some dances in 1896 and by Ravel in the Tomb of Couperin in 1917.
