Forest of Arc-in-Barrois
The forest of Arc-in-Barrois is a National forest located in Haute-Marne, close to Arc-in-Barrois. Divided with Aubepierre in particular, the forest of Arc Barrois one of is extended from France (15 210 hectares). It is mainly made up of Chêne S, Charme S and Hêtre S.
The forest of Arc-in-Barrois is regarded as the greatest field of hunting for big game of France (Sanglier S, Cerf S and Chevreuil S).
History
At the XIXème century, the forest, which belonged to the royal house since 1696, returned to the duchess of Orleans, widow of Philippe-Equality. It remained in this family until her sale in the State in 1974. During these a hundred and sixty years, the crew S of the duke of Penthièvre, of the duke of Chartres, then of Souzy drove out there with courre. The princes of Orleans also drive out there with shooting with their neighbors and friends. Starting from 1924, it is a company of hunting which is made up and which organizes wild boar huntings, stags and roe-deers. Requisitioned by the Germans during the Second world war, hunting was then reorganized under the direction of the baron Petiet and again known exceptional tables.
