Forerunner

Forerunners are beings of the series of plays Halo.

Forerunners are a race Extraterrestre having disappeared from our universe there are several hundreds of thousands of years, following a terrible war which opposed them to another extraterrestrial race, the Parasites. The parasites are a parasitic race, alive under the dictatorship of the hive. They use the bodies of the advanced races which they meet to reproduce, while making gradually transfer the corpses until a cognitive form.

At the edge of the extinction, Forerunners, having an incredibly developed technology, built seven " halos" , of the ring-worlds 2.000 kilometers in diameter and 300 meters thickness, as well as an Arch which in the event of extinction of the whole system, with the possibility of all of activating them. The Parasites not knowing the site of the Arch, Forerunners could thus hide above, therefore the Arch was put out of reach rings. The objective of these rings was to study the Parasite (from where the landscapes, seas, different climates installed on their surface) to learn how to eliminate them. Forerunners thus reflect at the point a terrible weapon, installed on the rings, able to destroy all lives able to be contaminated in several galaxies neighborhood. After having as a preliminary to lock up specimens on the Halations, and to have exhausted all the other options, they activated their weapons and disappeared all, like any form of life able to shelter the Parasite. Deprived of food and means of reproduction, those died… Except those in dormancy on certain rings.

Later, the Alliance of the Covenants, under the high patronage of the Prophets-Hiérarques, discovered technology forerunners and gave a mystical role to each one of their artefacts. The discovery of the first Halation let to them think that it was the key towards the safety of their hearts and that these rings, heritages of a race of lords, was the gift of the latter to release them from an infernal life. The Prophets calls this action " Large Voyage" who supposed is guided their faithful towards safety. Forerunners would never have thought that they would be venerated not a sect nun.
