Football world cup of 1978
The World cup 1978 was held in Argentine of June 1st with the June 25th 1978. The Argentine was crowned for the first time by beating the Netherlands finally after prolongation.
This edition was discussed, in particular with regard to the match Argentina Peru. Because of the difference in goals, the Argentinian ones were to mark at least four goals with the Peruvians to qualify itself for the final at the expense of the Brésil.
The suspicion of arrangement comes owing to the fact that the Peruvian goalkeeper of this match, Ramón Quiroga, was born in Argentina and had, until this meeting, boxed only six goals in five meetings at the time of this final stage. In the same way, Argentina had still marked only six goals before, but they carried it 6-0 and passed the second turn.

A context discussed for a discussed final
In 1974, whereas the colonial empires were pushed back, of many countries in Africa and Asia obtained their independence. To face this recrudescence of federations, FIFA with the good idea to double the number of participants but decides to adopt this system of double hen phase, as in the League of the Champions of the time. This system was strongly disapproved because it lengthens the competition, and of the blow time between the CDM and the national championship for the players is seen enormously curtailed. Consequently, much claim a second round with direct elimination quite simply. Moreover, the last day, “match chopper”, supports arrangements between federations, the small countries letting pass the large ones. The strange Argentina-Peru match (where everyone suspects arrangement) is the illustration of this problem. The many protests following this match bring to change the system, and to adopt by stages the principle of the eighth of finale to direct elimination. This will be effective starting from the World cup 1986, after a transitory system in 1982 (second round with four groups of three countries, the first of each group reaching the semi-finals).
The final was it also discussed. Dutchmen showing Argentinian to do everything to delay the beginning of the match, such as for example by protesting the illegality of a plaster posed on the wrist of Rene van of Kerkhof. That to leave the visitor team in prey with the unchained crowd of the stage of Buenos Aires. The Netherlands refused to attend the ceremonies according to match. Argentina gained 3-1 after prolongations with two goals of Mario Kempes, better striker of the tournament with 6 achievements. The Netherlands thus lost their second final of sharpened and always vis-a-vis the organizing country (West Germany in 1974). That remains for much, an injustice, so much the team and the generation of Cruyff (this one having refused to play the world cup in Argentina, following the military coup d'etat of the junta two years before), Neeskens and others Johnny Reference mark deserved a title for its contribution with modern football in term of strategy and fluidity.
