It was old boxer heavy truck which gained 55 victories, including 40 per KB, 1 no one and 8 defeats. Former Olympic champion of the average weights to the Olympic Games of summer of 1952 with Helsinki, it becomes in 1956 the first Olympic champion with becoming also world champion of the heavy trucks. He becomes also the youngest world champion of heavy of the history. After a series of victorious defenses of its title, it east demolishes its world belt by Swedish Ingemar Johansson in 1959. It will take then its revenge vis-a-vis this same adversary, becoming thus the first boxer to reconquer the title of the heavy ones.

In 1962, it will lose its title again, vis-a-vis Sony Liston. It will fail then all its attempts at reconquest of the title of the heavy ones. A defeat vis-a-vis Muhammad Ali will convince it at 37 years to withdraw boxing rings.

He is the inventor of the Gazelle Punch, uppercut launched with a propulsion on the legs (like a jump of gazelle).
