Fletcher Christian

Fletcher Christian (September 25th 1764 - October 3rd 1793) was a member of the crew of the Bounty during its voyage of Tahiti, and the chief of a group of mutineers.

In 1789 it carried out the mutiny against the captain of the boat, William Bligh. It went to Tahiti with eleven mutineers. Not wanting to be stopped by the Royal British Navy, it left with eight mutineers, six men tahitiens, eleven tahitiennes and a baby, with the islands Pitcairn, where it died. The majority of the current population of the Pitcairn Islands goes down directly from these particular colonists.
