The Fleckvieh is a bovine race German.
History
It belongs to the branch of the races Pie red of the mountains whose original prototype is the Simmental Suisse.La fleckvieh is high in Germany for a very long time. It populated the Bavaria and part of the Austria in direct natural communication with the German-speaking Switzerland from where it is originating. The herd book goes back to 1879. It received the influence of Red holstein and simmental. Manpower is stable with 650.000 cows and 2500 bulls registered on a population of 1,5 million animals.
Morphology
It wears a red black and white dress, with the members and the white head. The spots are well delimited and can vary dark wheat with the red almost mahogany tree.C' is a race of big size. The cow measures 142 cm for 750 kg. The bull 155 cm for 1200 kg.
Qualities
It is a mixed race which produces 5000 kg of a milk of good quality, in particular for the cheese-making production. (matter grasstes 4% and 3,4% of proteinic rate) Its udders are well adapted to the machine milking. It is quite formed for control in mountain pasture thanks to its aptitude for walk and its strength to the amplitudes of temperatures.Elle is producing effective of meat from its powerful musculature. It owes it with the influence of the Gelbvieh. It with the most beautiful breadth of the branch of the Black and white red of the mountains. This is why it was exported with the the United States to form a population suited to the production of meat in mountainous area, becoming thus race purely bouchère.
