Figuig
Figuig (rear RTL فكيك) (in Tmazight (local language with Figuig): ifyey) is a very old city of the Morocco. It is located at the east of the country, the south of Oujda and 8 km of the Algerian city of Beni Ounif. It is surrounded by three sides by Algeria but the border for the moment is closed.
The city contains seven Ksour, which is Zenaga, Laâbidate, Loudaghir, Oulad Slimane, Hamam Tahtani, Hamam Foukani and El Maïz (old groups of population which were completely autonomous having their own laws and habits). It is located in an oasis, rich in palm trees; the dates satisfy the needs for the inhabitants and are also exported towards other areas, outside, you can admire the beauty of the the Sahara and mountains too.
In spite of the seniority of the city and its beauty, considering its insulation and the lack of infrastructures.
Figuig is twinned with the French city of Stains.
The town of Figuig knew the existence of a university at the 8th century, within which the algebra and Islamic theology were taught.
