Fezzan

The Fezzan (Arab: فزان) is a desert area of Libya.

Principal city: Sebha. Bordered by the mountains of Akakus and Tadrart (Tadrart Acacus). The forces of Leclerc carried out there a first raid against the Italians in 1942 then conquered it in 1943. After the Second world war which marked the end of Italian colonization, the administration of the territory was thus entrusted to the France by UNO until the independence of the Libya in 1951.
