Ferdinand de Mayenne

Ferdinand Gonzague , in Italian Ferdinando Gonzaga , was a noble free French of Italian stock born in 1610 in France and dead the May 25th 1632 with Charleville (France).

Ferdinand was the son youngest child of Charles Gonzague, duke of Nevers and of Rethel and prince d' Arches at the time of its birth. His/her mother was Catherine of Lorraine, girl of famous the Mayenne , Charles de Mayenne, deceased in 1611, and sister of the duke of Mayenne which succeeded Henri to him de Mayenne.
Ferdinand, duke of Nevers by Courtesy, is 21 years old when he inherits, in 1631, of the strongholds of his/her brother Charles. It becomes thus duke of Mayenne and of Pivot like marquis de Villars, count of Maine, Tends and Sommerive.
He becomes also heir in power to the strongholds to their father, the duchies of Nevers and Rethel and the principality of Arches.
In 1627, his/her Charles father will become, following the War of succession of Mantoue, duke of Mantoue and duke of Montferrat and he will be also the héritier.
This situation will last less than one year because it will die in its 22e year, the May 25th 1632, leaving the strongholds of Mayenne, Villars, Maine, Tende and Sommerive to its nephew Charles II of Mantoue which will be Charles IV of Mayenne.
The duchy of Pivot will be required by Richelieu which will reinstate it in the crown of France.
