Female League of Tennis shoe

The female Ligue of tennis shoe (LFB) is the championship elite and professional of the championship of France of female basketball.

It is the female equivalent of male LNB but is placed under the aegis of the French federation of basketball.

History and operation

From 1998 to 2005

It was created in 1998, in succession of the Nationale 1 has , in order to ensure the development of the high level female tennis shoe. It included/understood a single hen of 12 clubs which, after a “regular season” by return ticket, continued by one 2nd phase in 3 mini-championships with 4: classified teams from 1 to 4 for the title (with finale into 3 (or 5) matches between the 2 first of this 2nd turn), the classified teams from 5 to 8 per 1 (or 2) place (S) out of Cut of Europe, teams classified from 9 to 12 to avoid 2 relegations in championship - amateur - of National 1.

Since 2005

Following problems of payments during the season 2004-2005 (the clubs going down were not known), the federation changed the system. For 2005-2006, the League was extended to 14 teams, with a more traditional formula: the “regular season” will be followed of play-offs, copied from those of the Pro has male, thus implying 12 teams; only 14th and last of the regular season will be relegated.

Regular season

The first day, named Open of the female League, is played in the same place for all the teams, the Stade Pierre-with-Coubertin (Paris). The “regular season” is always in the shape of return ticket.

Playoffs

The groupings n°1, 2,3 and 4 reach directly in quarterfinals. On the other hand, the positioned teams from 5 to 12 in regular season play the first turn (or pre-quarters of finale) in matches return ticket. Except for the final, the playoffs are played with point-average in matches return ticket with the meeting return played best classified at the conclusion of the regular season. The null results are allowed on these matches. If, at the conclusion of the matches return the teams are with equality of point-average, it will as many be played extensions by five minutes to decide between the teams.

Finale

The champion of France will be indicated with best of the three matches (or two gaining sleeves). The order of the meetings will be the following: for the first sleeve, the team the least best classified at the conclusion of the regular season receives best classified. On the other hand, it moves at the time of the 2nd handle, and if necessary for 3rd, at the sporting grouping best classified in regular season.
  • 1 - Winner 1 against Winner 2;
  • 2 - Winner 2 against Winner 1;
  • 3 (if necessary) - Victorious 2 against Winner 1.

European qualifications

  • Euroligue (or EuroLeague Women ), 3 places (By preferential order):
the champion of France LFB;
  • the club classified first at the conclusion of the first phase of the championship;
  • grouping qualified via a competition FIBA Europe (mention added as from the season 2006-07); then
    1. the winner of the Tournament of the Federation;
    2. the finalist of the championship,
    on the assumption that it is each time about the club classified first at the conclusion of the first phase of the championnat.
    If one of the clubs could not engage in Euroligue the following season or although an additional place is proposed in France, this place will be allotted according to the classification of the first phase of the championship.
    • Eurocoupe (or EuroCup Women ) (By preferential order):

    the victorious club of the Coupe de France;
  • remaining places allotted according to the classification of the first phase of the championship.
