Jean Marie Farina (1685-1766) calls her new perfume Eau de Cologne in honor of its new residential city. It made Cologne the city of the most famous perfume of the world. This one paid homage to Jean Marie Farina through a statue raised on the Town hall.

In a letter which he wrote in 1708, Jean Marie Farina described his new perfume as follows: “ My perfume makes think of a beautiful spring morning after the rain; a composition of oranges, lemons, grapefruit, bergamotte, flowers and fruits of my native land.

Success is such as in Cologne and elsewhere create for themselves several concurrent houses, each one asserting its own Gian Maria Farina. Three of these houses survived. Today, the original Eau de Cologne is always produced by the eighth generation of the descendants of Jean Marie Farina.
