Fantasio

Fantasio is a character of the Cartoon Spirou and Fantasio . Faithful and honest companion of Spirou in all their common adventures, it was introduced in 1942 by Jijé, which drew at the time the adventures of Spirou in the Newspaper of Spirou .
Its name is a derivative of the word Fantaisie, which corresponds so that the character in the history from his character brings: sometimes grumpy, often awkward, but it is despite everything a character sympathetic nerve and in all the cases Comique, whereas Spirou is generally more sober.
However, when one finds it at the sides of Gaston Lagaffe, it is the latter which plays the part of whimsical, and Fantasio appears then much more serious and austere that when it is with Spirou.
The origin of Fantasio
One often presents Jijé like the creator of Fantasio. Actually, it is the first editor association of Spirou, Jean Doisy, the true dad of Fantasio. It appears a priori in the number 23 of the Journal of Spirou in 1939. It animates at the time the heading Voyez you the errors? . At its beginnings, Fantasio is well whimsical, but it is not especially fair. Later, a puppet takes its features. Jijé is inspired and represented Fantasio in dandy by it on the cover of the collection Spirou number 11. This Fantasio is still very different from the final form which it will take at the time of the period Franquin.
When Jijé decides to take again Fantasio in the adventures of Spirou, it recreates a new character graphically, either dandy but again whimsical. One discovers this grinding of Fantasio in the red pilot appeared in the Almanac 1944. With time, it becomes increasingly fair, and takes false airs of the male American hero of the series Blondie .
The Franquin period
Contrary to Jijé, whose Fantasio is at the origin of the majority of the adventures, Franquin generally places it like a victim of events external with its will, of which it is not even in the beginning. It is the case for example of its heritage in Spirou and the heirs . But it is also victim of the revenge on his cousin Zantafio in the Bad Head .
Fantasio loses its good mood in addition while he is confronted on arrival of Gaston and Seccotine in his close entourage. It becomes serious, then even irrascible. He is irritated with least imagination by the Marsupilami and puts himself in anger as soon as one of his/her collaborators contradicts it.
In the series Gaston Lagaffe, Fantasio is the editor association of the newspaper of Spirou and vainly tries to make work Gaston, whose blunders regularly put it in fury. It fails regularly in the signing of contracts with Aimé De Mesmaeker. Fantasio disappears from the series when Franquin gives up Spirou and Fantasio to be devoted only to Gaston.
Baker
Fantasio of the Fournier period is more adventurous when one of his/her friends is found in danger. Thus this is the case in Tora Torapa where it launches out without regret, although reassured by the prospect for going to Polynesia, with the continuation of those which removed Zorglub. However, its character becomes again difficult: when for example Spirou wants to leave to the Niokolo-Koba, he initially refuses to follow it, although it is charmed to be there as soon as it sees Ororéa. Indeed, Fantasio is in love with the young woman, which marks an evolution in its personality.
NIC and Cauvin
Although the duet brought little to the series, Fantasio is become again all the same during this time follower of imaginations. The purchase of a mildewed boat and its scientific curiosity will be indeed the sources of the three adventures carried out by NIC and Cauvin.
Volume and Janry
Fantasio becomes again very near to its personality at the time of Franquin. Touched by the virus of the report, grouser, it shows its usual abnegation nevertheless in particular when it is a question of helping John Héléna, reached by a virus, however its old enemy. Acceptor and (surprising!) without too grogner to never leave to the adventure, it rail most of the time when an unforeseen obstacle comes to slow down their progression.
With time, it develops an unexpected facet: its side one nothing dandy was obvious, in particular in the choice of its wardrobe, but he becomes later an opportunist seducer, as one sees it in Luna fatal and Machine which dreams .
Morvan and Munuera
Fantasio, sometimes a little frimor, sometimes heroic, sometimes reached awkward consumerism, and one nothing. Faithful to itself, the character did not evolve/move less about it in contact with his Spirou comrade. He does not hesitate any more to launch out in the adventure and relatively calmly supports the unforeseen situations which can fall to him above.
an adventure of Spirou and Fantasio by…
In the petrified giants , Fantasio plays to some extent the part of malicious at the side of Bill Callaway and its pretty assistant (with which Fantasio is in love) while wanting to precede Spirou in the discovery of Rae Kauwheke. He discovers in fact that Callaway makes use of him to bring information, which leads it to pass by again on the side of the nice ones.
In the Marshes of time , Fantasio again seem an eccentric character and grognon.
Lastly, in the Tomb of Champignac , Fantasio finds its blue jacket, appeared under Franquin.
