FOR THE THIRD TIME the Rhone-Alps

The FOR THE THIRD TIME the Rhone-Alps is the network of Transport regional express of the administrative area the Rhone-Alps.

Characteristics

The Rhone-alpine railway network counts: 2600 km of lines, traversed daily by: 1100 regional trains, auquels are added 500 FOR THE THIRD TIME bus. The area the Rhone-Alps is thus, after the Île-de-France, the first French railway area. Moreover, to approach the users to FOR THE THIRD TIME, the area created 28 committees of line meeting three times per annum and charged with analyzing the problems of each line.

To satisfy these needs, the installation of a clocking of the schedules is envisaged, on each line, starting from the December 7th 2007: it will be a first in France, except Île-de-France.

The Area in addition considers the installation of a network TERGV later on. She also intends to reinforce the intermodality of her stations, in order to transform some of them into poles of exchange.

The clocking

A first test of clocking was launched in 2000 on the line St-Etienne - Lyon. The line thus saw its simplified schedules (for example, departure in 05 every 10 minutes of 6:35 to 7:55). The simplification of the schedules coupled with a simplification of the stations served between Givors and Lyon (only one stop with Givors City for St Etienne Lyon, where a second train serves the whole of the stations between Givors and Lyon). Extremely from this experiment (which has permi an optimization of the schedules and an increase in frequentation), the area the Rhone the Alps will generalize the clocking by December 2007.

As of its installation in spring 2004, the regional majority directed by Jean-Jack Queyranne had emitted the wish to give rhythm the network FOR THE THIRD TIME Rhone-alpine, on the model of the Swiss network of the CF. After meetings with Rail network of France and the SNCF, the project was ready end 2005, explains Eric Saliou, person in charge of the project. The objective is to reach an increase of 50 to 60% of the frequentation between 2007 and 2014
