Future trends

Niort line - Fontenay-the-Count

This line closed with the passenger traffic since 1969, account 25% of its layout in area Poitou-Charentes, the remainder being located in area Country of the Loire.

Reopening is registered with CPER 2000-2006 and the preliminary studies are finished. It remains to complete the interregional financial montage, to be able to launch the first work.

Reopening should intervene in 2009, work being registered with the CPER 2007-2013 of the Pays area of the Loire.

Line Thouars - Parthenay - Niort

This line is closed with the passenger traffic since 1980.

However this line remains in state and every Wednesday one can see there FOR THE THIRD TIME circulating with vacuum. Those come from the line Bressuire - Thouars - Saumur, and go to Saintes for maintenance and maintenance. They are authorized to circulate between 70 and 80 km/h, but certain portions of the way would support easily high speeds (100 km/h).

Association for the development of the rail-bound transport Thouet Sèvre Niort militates for reopening with the passenger traffic of this line. Their action allowed the inscription the CPER 2007-2013 of a study concerning this line.

Clocking of the line La Rochelle - Rochefort
