FACS-UNECTO

The FACS-UNECTO is the regrouping of two national associations dedicated to the secondary railroads and the tourist railroads.

The FACS (Federation of the Friends of the Secondary Railroads)

It was founded on January 1st, 1957 on the initiative of young people (at the time) who could not resign themselves to see disappearing with all secondary railway lines and the trams. Since, other young people and less young people joined this movement. Most active founded tourist railroads, gathered on their sums of money of the priceless collections, or more simply helped to preserve an inheritance or to write a history of it through the review of Association.

The UNECTO (Union of the Owners of Tourist Museum and Railroads)

independent of the FACS since March 18th, 2007, it gathers from now on 73 federate exploitations which have all their personality and thus make it possible to offer to the amateur and the general public a complete and alive presentation of the railway inheritance that association attempts to defend and preserve since 1957.

The review of the FACS

The FACS publishes a semi-monthly review which, after being itself a long time called secondary Railroads , took in 1969 the name of CFRU - Railroads regional and urban , then, in 2006, the name of CFRT - Railroads regional and trams .

Each number of the review includes/understands a file on a network, a material, a technology used by the old secondaries or the trams (France, Bénélux, Europe, Monde), passed or current, which constitutes a monograph of great quality on the subject concerned, as well as current events concerning as well the federate networks as the other exploitations.

Its files thus constitute an essential sum of information for any person concerned with these subjects.
