European elections of 2009

The European elections 2009 will be held about the month of June 2009. The purpose of they will be to elect new the the European Parliament, and more than 350 million voters will have to vote. The polling stations will be opened at days different according to the tradition from the country, but the results of the twenty-seven Member States will be revealed only the Sunday evening.

It will be the seventh European election. The European Parliament not having to comprise more than 750 members, except temporarily (as over the period 2007-09), the number of deputies per country, according to the number of inhabitants, will be re-examined - most of the time with the fall.

Changes since 2004

The Romania and the Bulgaria, which are in the Union since January 1st 2007, will elect their at the same time appointed European as the other Convention countries. They already elected their European deputies in May 2007 following their accession.

It is possible - although not very probable - that the Croatia enters the Union from here the election of 2009 and has time to elect its European deputies. According to the police chief Rehn, the entry of Croatia is more probable for 2010, for constitutional reasons.
