Eugene Schueller

Eugene Schueller (March 20th 1881 - August 23rd 1957) was a head of undertaking, founder of the company L'Oreal.

Eugene Schueller was born in the back-store from bakery pastry making from his parents with 124, rue du Cherche-Midi with Paris in the 6th district.

Left prize winner promotion of the Institute of chemistry applied of Paris (now 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of chemistry of Paris) in 1904, it is promoted assistant-preparer of the professor Victor Auger with the Sorbonne the same year.

In 1907, it develops the first capillary dyeings of synthesis.

Married in 1909 with Louise Madeleine Berthe Doncieux, her daughter Liliane is born the October 21st 1922. His wife dies the October 27th 1927 and it remarie the May 26th 1932 with Annie Grace Burrows.

Founder of L'Oreal (more exactly of the French company of Inoffensive Dyeings for Hair) the July 30th 1909, he was fabric also salesman, hawker.

At the origin of the Survey firm of the Prefabricated Houses Schueller (future Industrial Company of the Prefabricated Houses), it also directed paintings Valentine, the Industrial society of Celluloid, the General society of the Plastics, the Nobel Française (resulting from the fusion of the 2 preceding ones), Plavic Films, the Agatine one…

Close friend of Eugene Deloncle, Eugene Schueller places his average personnel at his disposal during the formation of the group of extreme right-hand side secret Comité of revolutionary action (CSAR), more known under the nickname of the Hood.

In 1945 and thanks to testimonys of François Mitterrand and Andre Bettencourt, Eugene Schueller will be released. With the end of the year, it engages François Mitterrand as general president-director of the editions of the Roundabout (and director of the magazine Your Beauty) and Andre Bettencourt joined the direction of the L'Oreal group. As of 1946, François Mitterrand gave up his functions to be elected appointed.
