Toponymy

The toponym Estos appears in the forms Stos (1368, notaries of Lucq), Astos (1402, censier of Béarn) and Feels Berthomiu d' Estos (1434, notaries of Oloron).

History

Paul Raymond note which the commune counted a laic abbey, vassal of the Viscount of Béarn.
In 1385, Estos depended on the Bailliage of Oloron and counted 4 fires.

In the northern suburbs oloronaise, Estos has a manor of the XVIIIe century when lived and died the singer Pierre de Jélyotte, born in Lasseube in 1719.
