In Systematic, the division is the taxinomic second Rang of the codified hierarchy of the scientific Classification traditional (i.e. fascinating in consideration all the observable characters Taxinomique S, whatever the method used) of the alive species.

The universal name (Latin) of the row is Divisio , which is returned in French by two synonymous terms, but noninterchangeable (one or the other being used in a way codified according to the disciplines): Division and Junction . Division is the term used in Mycologie, for example.

Lastly, one uses more and more the term Phylum in third synonym. This term is accepted by all the disciplines concerned with the alive world like term of optional replacement, in particular in the discussions and the theses.
