Erwin Komenda

Erwin Komenda born in 1904 with Jauenrn (Austria) is an eminent figure of automobile stylism, began its career at Daimler-Benz like designer as a chief in the department of body. It joined then the automobile office of design of Ferdinand Porsche, with Stuttgart, where it is seen entrusting a first order: it is about the design of a body for the racing racing car Standard Auto Union is, holder of the world records speed (1934). Obviously influenced by former aerodynamic studies undertaken by Paul Jaray and Wunibld Kamm (1893 - 1966), Komenda draws then a body for the first Volkswagen Coccinelle (1934), which is the first car of the German mark Volkswagen put in production in 1938. Erwin Komenda also drew many models for Porsche of which the great classic of the design which is the 911.
