Ermenonville
Ermenonville is a common French, located in the department of the Oise and the area Picardy.
Geography
The village is located at the south-east of the Forêt of Ermenonville, at 13 km of Senlis and at 40 km in the North-East of Paris. Ermenonville is accessible by the highway from North or by RN 2. A station is located at five kilometers of the village, with Nanteuil-le-Haudouin.
History
The city is inhabited since the Neolithic . At the 7th century, it belongs to the fields of the Seigneur S of Chantilly, Bouteiller.In 987 at the time of Hugues Capet, the Château of Ermenonville is built on the villa of Irminon, the Évêque of Senlis.
In 1351 Robert de Lorris acquires of it, then, in 1590, Dominique of Vic whose descendants will sell Ermenonville with Rene Hatte, financier of the king Louis XV, in 1754. His/her son-in-law Rene of Girardin inherited in 1763 it. He arranged the park while following the suggestions of Jean-Jacques Rousseau in the News Héloïse whose reading had strongly marked it. The writer will pass besides in the park of Ermenonville the last weeks of its life and will be buried on the Island of the Peuplier S in a tomb drawn by Hubert Robert. This famous presence will attract tourists of mark such as the queen Marie-Antoinette, the King of Sweden Gustave III, Benjamin Franklin, Robespierre, Mirabeau, Danton, Saint-Just, Camille Desmoulins and finally Napoleon Bonaparte, then first consul. During the Revolution, Ermenonville is temporarily famous… Jean-Jacques Rousseau . In 1794 a decree will impose the transfer of ashes of Rousseau to the the Pantheon.
In 1880, the prince Radziwill acquires Ermenonville. It makes disappear the house from Rousseau as well as the turn Gabrielle where Henri IV and Gabrielle d' Estrées were accustomed to meeting. Most of the field will be bought thereafter by Nélie Jacquemart-Andre which will make of it gift with the Institut of France. The castle will belong a time to Bugatti which will effectura its mechanical research there.
In 1963, Jean Richard, inaugurates the first Amusement park to French topic, the sea of sand , benefitting from a curiosity Géologique, a great sandy extent, which enables him to create with some steps of Paris of the decorations of the Far West American.

Personalities related to the commune
Jean-Jacques Rousseau lived the end of its life there, died there in 1778 and it is from here its ashes were tranférées in the Pantheon in 1793.
