The child is upset to the tears and the theater becomes its passion. It is then put to write, it will say later: " At sixteen years, I had included/understood - or decided - that I was writer, and I composed, put in scene and played my first parts with the lycée." Topics
Works of Schmitt attract the public by putting in scene famous historical characters. He proposes reading tracks to try to include/understand their life and their acts:- Sigmund Freud in the Visitor
- Diderot in the Libertine ,
- Pontius Pilate, Jesus-Christ and Judas in the Gospel according to Pilate ,
- Adolf Hitler in the Share of the other .
The religion also holds a great place in works of Schmitt, often by confronting two characters of different religions:
- Jesus-Christ ressuscity which seeks Pontius Pilate,
- the Bouddhisme in Milarepa ,
- the Islam and the Judaïsme in Mr Ibrahim and flowers of Coran ,
- the prayer of a dying child with God in Oscar and the pink lady ,
- the Judaïsme and the Christianisme in the Child of Noah .
The three works of Schmitt ( Mr Ibrahim and flowers of Coran , Oscar and the pink lady and the Child of Noah ) also show a reflection of the author on the place of the child in the family. Each time, a child adopts a new family, a new father. For some critical, it would be the author who incarnates himself in these children.
