Encyclopedia Persian

LEncyclopédie Persian دایرةالمعارففارسی is a Encyclopédie in two volumes written in language Persian. Although consisting of two " volumes; logiques" , it is published in three volumes.

The Encyclopedia is partially based on the editions of 1953, 1960 and 1968 of the The Columbia Viking Desk Encyclopedia . It was published in the beginning under the direction of Gholamhossein Mosaheb, which started the project in 1955 in the office of the organization Franklin Book Programs with Teheran. Mosaheb left the project after the publication of the first volume (of the letter F ا to the letter F س) in 1966.

The second volume was published in two parts, making work an encyclopedia in three volumes. The first part (of the letter F ش to the letter F ل) was published in 1978 under the supervision of Reza Aghsa.

The Iranian Revolution, the death of Mosaheb in 1979 and the resumption of the capital of Franklin Book Programs in Teheran by the government delayed the remainder of the publication. The second part (of the letter F م to the letter F ی) was published in 1996 by the Amirkabir editions.

The encyclopedia comprises 3385 pages out of three columns. Unfortunately, it does not give a report on the number of articles which it contains.

The three volumes were republished with light changes by the Amirkabir editions in 2002 (ISBN 964-303-044-X).
