Emperor-God of Dune

Emperor-God of Dune is a novel of Frank Herbert, published in the United States of America in 1981, which makes following the novel the Children of Dune . It is about the 4th volume of the Cycle of Dune.

Summary

Following its decision approximately 3500 years earlier to carry out humanity towards the Path of Gold, Leto II became an alive and tyrannical god, who continues his change in giant Ver with the wire of the centuries. Its Prescience and its genetic Mémoire quasi unlimited enables him to completely control the various organizations which divided before the universe, and which now after a fashion tries to resist the immense capacity of Emperor-God, called the “Tyrant”.

During these three millenia, Leto upset the old order of many ways: the Grandes Houses are nothing any more but the shade of themselves, while the Guilde, the Bene Gesserit, the Bene Tleilax and Ix are brought back to the row of servants to which one grants small rewards for the satisfactions brought to the Tyran. The climate changes of Dune, founded by Paul Muad' Dib, led to the extermination of the towards giants whose last alive specimen is the Emperor.

From a more general point of view, the reign of Leto II are connected with an intense stagnation, where the Paix of Leto is imposed on all the levels, which they are artistic, cultural, ludic or religious. However, the tyrant wants to be a professor. Its whole reign is only one lesson for whole humanity, it is its Sentier of Gold.

On its side, Leto saw an interminable hell, due to its innate knowledge of the past, present and future of humanity. Accompanied since the beginning by its transformation by many gholas, all of the copies of Duncan Idaho provided by the Bucket Tleilax, it waits the day when the Sentier of Gold will carry humanity beyond the dangers of annihilation.

The first step of this ultimate plan of survival for humanity is given by a young girl rebels, which will put an end to the physical reign Empereur and will launch a gigantic start of revival in the universe.
