Emilio García Riera

Emilio García Riera (born the November 17th 1931 with Ibiza, Spain - deceased the October 11th 2002 with Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico) was a Acteur, Scénariste and critical of Spanish Cinéma , naturalized Mexican. He exhaustively wrote on the Mexican Cinéma among 1929 and 1976, leaving behind him an anthology in eighteen volumes Historia documental LED movies mexicano .

Biography

Emilio García Riera nacquit with Ibiza, in Spain. It arrived at the Mexico at the eight years age. It was interested in the cinema of its host country and obtained Mexican nationality. Its tastes also extended to the Czechoslovakian cinema , the neorealism of Roberto Rossellini and to the New wave.

From 1957, it started to write criticisms in various publications. Later, it founded the reviews Nuevo Cine , Imágenes and Dicine . Its work of critic led it to be member of the jury of many festivals, of which that of Cannes in 1995. It also appeared in several television programs.

In 1969, it undertook exhaustively to document all the Mexican Cinéma since 1929. The result was Historia documental LED movies mexicano , which contains descriptive cards of practically all films, until 1976 for the new edition, and which counts eighteen volumes.

Emilio García Riera was professor in several universities, of which the Faculty of Political sciences of the autonomous National university of Mexico. In 1986, it founded with Guadalajara, with the Réalisateur Jaime Humberto Hermosillo, Muestra de Cine Mexicano.

He died in 2001 of a pulmonary Fibrose.
