His/her father worked for General Motors; it was charged to find sites where General Motors could establish factories, which caused many removals of the Leonard family. Even if Elmore Leonars were born in New-Orleans, it did not live there very a long time. The family often moved until her nine years, in 1934, where they settled with Detroit in the Michigan.
At that time two significant events took place, which influenced much Leonard in his writings. The Gangster S like Bonnie and Clyde did the one of the newspapers of the country, just like the team of Baseball of the Detroit Tigers. In the beginning of the year 1930, Bonnie and Clyde were known for their fatal madness, and were cut down the May 23rd 1934. The Detroit Tigers were qualified for the World Series of baseball in 1934. These events marked Leonard, who conceived of it a fascination for the sports and the weapons.
Leonard was graduate University off Strait Jesuit High School in 1943.
Leonard, or " Dutch" , as it was sometimes called, was its first successes in the world of the fiction in the years 1950, by publishing regularly accounts of Western in pulps . Since, it was tested with the Detective novel, and other kinds, but also with the writing of Scénario S. It was greeted by the critics for his realism and its dialogs right and strong. Its style often takes some freedoms with grammar in the interest to accelerate the history. In its test Elmore Leonard' S Ten Rules off Writing , Leonard written: But my most important rule is a rule which summarizes the ten others: if that resembles writing, I rewrite it.
Many novels of Leonard were adapted out of films, among which Hombre in 1967, Get Shorty in 1995, Rum Punch (in 1997, under the title Jackie Brown), and more recently Cool Be , in 2005.
