Decreased kings

In March 880 in Amiens, the paternal heritage is divided: Louis, obtaining the Francie West and the Neustrie, reign jointly with his/her brother Carloman. This last receives the Burgundy West, the Aquitaine, and the Septimanie (the Cevennes, Corbières, North of the Pyrenees with the towns of Narbonne, Carcassonne, Béziers and Nimes). To have peace and to be able to face the Normands, the two brothers are obliged to negotiate with their cousin Louis the Young person who asserts the Western Lotharingie however acquired by the Traité of Mersen of the August 9th 870. With the beginning of the year 880 they are in the obligation to yield it to him by signing the Traité of Ribemont (Aisne). They must also battle for Burgundy, disputed by their great-uncle Boson V of Provence.

A very short reign

During an adventure in love, Louis III would have crashed to pieces cranium against the lintel of a too low door whereas it continued with horse the girl of certain Germund. Its body is buried the August 5th 882 with Saint-Denis. It then leaves all the kingdom of Francie Western with his Carloman brother, but for well little time.
