The Éditions of the Threshold is a French Publisher created in 1935. It draws its name from its objective: to allow the talented writers to cross the invisible threshold which separates those which were already published the different ones.
Description
The Threshold published inter alia the red Little book of Mao and the series of the Don Camillo , whose very large sales made it possible to publish titles with small pullings, in particular in Social sciences. The house, very respected in the medium of the edition, maintains positive ratios with its authors. It in particular published works of Jacques Lacan, Roland Barthes, Philippe Sollers (first period) or later Edgar Morin, Maurice Genevoix or Pierre Bourdieu.In the same way, the good relationships with the booksellers, at the time, enabled him to sit an activity of rather important Distribution by ensuring for example the diffusion of the editors Odile Jacob, Éditions of Midnight, Jose Corti, Rivages, etc
The editions of the Threshold undertake also a very important activity in the edition youth. They promoted and published many the French great authors for youth, and were the first, in 2005, to offer to the public cartoon films included in the albums and carried out by the artists themselves ( In Quai of Sara, Promenade of inattentive a , Béatrice Alemagna).
History
In 1937, it is repurchased by the jewellers Flemish Paul and Jean Bardet. In 1979, those leave the direction to Michel Chodkiewicz.August 1st
The direction is then ensured by Claude Cherki starting from 1989.
Claude Cherki deals with the repurchase of the Threshold by Martinière the January 12th 2004. Six months later, it is constrained to resign because of catches of interests in this operation. It was replaced by Flemish Pascal (chairman) and Olivier Cohen (directing leading article), creator of a subsidiary company of the Threshold: Olivier . Following the repurchase by Martinière, the distributive firm Volumen is created. Many problems involved in the Logistic appearing, several editors leave the group.
In November 2005, the group announces the arrival of Laure Adler in the capacity as person in charge of the literary sector of the Threshold. Olivier Cohen takes again to the reins of his house Olivier . Points , subsidiary pocket of the Threshold, becomes an editor with whole share. The group continues its policy of growth: the editor Public menace joined it, as well as the editions Gradually . Strong tensions are with work and, in July 2006, the editor Herve Hamon (who in addition accurately published a score of books in the house in his capacity as writer) leaves the Threshold and is explained of it publicly, informant that " the author is not any more in the center of the dispositif".
In August 2006, the group announces the arrival as a managing director of the Threshold of Denis Jeambar, journalist and writer, former assistant editor of the drafting of the Point and former President of the group the Express train-The Expansion and director of the drafting of the Express train . At the end of 2006, Laure Adler is laid off.
