Edgar Maalouf

Edgar Maalouf (born in 1934) is a Lebanese political personality and former general of the Army.

Its career of high-officer, near to the general Michel Aoun, carries out it in 1988 to being appointed minister within the temporary government directed by Aoun, at the end of the mandate of President Amine Gemayel. Edgar Maalouf occupies several ministries then (Finances, Industry and Oil, Tourism, Public health and social Affairs, Work and Public works).

Following the military defeat of the Aoun general the October 13rd 1990, Edgar Maalouf is found exiled in France. It will remain there until the May 7th 2005, after the Syrian withdrawal of the Lebanon, accompanying Michel Aoun once again.

He is elected one month appointed later Greek-orthodoxe of Metn, representing the Free patriotic current, within the Bloc of the reform and the change.
