Edgar Atheling

Edgar Ætheling (about 1051 - about 1126), was the last male descendant of the royal house of the Wessex resulting from Cerdic. He was proclaimed King d' Angleterre, but ever crowned.

He was the only son of Edouard Exiled the, him even wire and thus heir to Edmond II Côte of iron , king d' Angleterre in the 1016, died same year.

With died of king Guillaume in 1087, it supported his/her oldest son, Robert Courteheuse, which had received the Duché of Normandy in heritage, against his/her brother Guillaume II the Russet-red, which had received the England to him. In 1091, when the two brothers decided to put an end to their quarrels by the Traité of Caen, Guillaume II obtains from his/her brother that it strips Atheling of all his possessions Normans and that it banishes it duchy.

Then during thirty years, benefitting from the Scottish refuge where his/her sister Marguerite had married the king, it tried to foment revolts in England and to reconquer its throne. After having joined the Byzantines then the First crusade, it returned to Normandy, to fight against Henri I {{er}} Beauclerc, and was made prisoner with Tinchebray in 1106. Forgiven, by Henri who had married his Ædith niece, in 1100, it was withdrawn and did not make any more speak about him, it remained the lost king.
