Eden Park is undoubtedly the most mythical stage of the most famous Rugby and in the world. Born with the neighborhoods from 1900 on a ground with the foot from the Eden mount, volcano on which is installed the town of Auckland, Eden Park becomes the official stage of the team of cricket of Auckland in 1910. This one organizes in 1914 an official match opposing the team of Australia to the team of the Black Capes, nickname designating the team of New Zealand of cricket.

It is into 1921 that the first match of Rugby disputes there, a test opposing Blacks to the team of South Africa, and gained by visitors 9 to 5.

In 1956, Eden Park knows one year important. First of all, Blacks Capes put an end to 26 years without victory in official test. Then, six months later, Blacks put an end to the invincibility of Springboks in series of tests, by gaining the last match of the series in front of 61.240 spectators, which remains the record of multitude of the stage. The stage is then renovated and becomes for New Zealand Rugby an almost impregnable fortress: only England in 1973, Australia in 1978 and 1986 and France in 1979 and 1994 beat Blacks there since 1961.

In 1981, Eden Park will live a new event. At that time, the Apartheid reign in South Africa. At that time also, the first inhabitants of the country, the maori S, are rehabilitated within the New Zealand company. The round of Springboks is then the occasion of new confrontations between partisans of a cancellation of this round and those which prefer to dissociate sport and policy. At the time of the match being held in Eden Park, a plane flies over very many times at low altitude the stage, throwing on this one of the bags of flour.

Then the first World cup comes from Rugby in 1987. Eden Park with the honor to accommodate the first match enters New Zealand and Italy. With this occasion, All Blacks carry out for the first time on their ground the Haka, reserved before with the matches of round abroad. Eden Park also accommodates the same year the first final of world cup. All Blacks gain the match against France (29-9).
