Economy of Liberia
Formerly favorable, the economic situation of Liberia became critical in years 1980 before being still worsened by the Civil war: destruction of the axes of communication, plundering of the Natural resources… Today, the Corruption, the social strains and the insecurity are legion; the bast State is almost impotent vis-a-vis all these problems.
Liberia has many natural resources: Diamond (Liberia is the 16th world producer), Bois, Latex (Firestone exploits plantations, in particular in Harbel), Café, Cacao, but especially Fer. The secondary industry is represented by the Raffinage Pétrole gross imported, the industry of rubber and the Brasserie. Liberia is a Tax shelter and belonged to the Flags of convenience (what brings back important incomes to the State and which gives to Liberia the 2nd fleet of the World).
The country belongs to the LDC; it is one of poorest of planet. The lifespan is there lower than 45 years, the rate of Infant mortality Just like addresses as tu the 15%… in Sierra Leone, the question of the rehabilitation of the former child-soldiers is posed.
