ENASA
Pegaso is the trade mark of trucks of the Spanish industry group ENASA, integrated since 1990 in the group FIAT - IVECO.
Pegaso was also considered, the shortly after the second world war, as manufacturer of cars, worthy heiress of Hispano-Suiza.
History of ENASA - PEGASO
ENASA (Hastened Nacional de Autocamiones S.A.) is a Spanish company specialized in the manufacture of industrial vehicles, mainly of the trucks but which, during the years 1950 produced famous sporting cars PEGASO.
ENASA was founded by Instituto Nacional de Industria (INI) in 1946, on the initiative of Wifredo Ricart, which was charged with it by Juan Antonio Suanzes Fernández, President of the INI.
With the creation of ENASA, Spain provided the foundation of a national auto industry during one time of great economic and political insulation. The needs for the time were primary: trucks and tractors. Thus, on the remainders of Hispano-Suiza was born ENASA, whose main aim was the manufacture of freight vehicles for the people and the goods.

1946 the first truck of long series, Pegaso I appears, a model based on Hispano-Suiza 66G, which because of the shape of its cabin was called " mofletes".
- 1947 Pegaso presents Pegaso II Z-203, which is an evolution of Pegaso I.
- 1949 Pegaso presents Z 701, first tractor of the manufacturer.
- 1951 Pegaso II receives a diesel motorization.
- 1953 a prototype of military truck, m3, is presented.
- 1954 the manufacture of the trucks is transferred in the factory from Barajas close to Madrid. The same year begins manufacture from Z-207 " Barajas".
- 1955 presentation of a prototype of Z-201 with three axles including two with front, according to the Italian concept.
- 1961 beginning of the production of the buses and coaches Pegaso Monotral, based on the license of the Italian manufacturer Viberti which will give a great product range during decades. The first will be the bus 6030-N, equipped with a horizontal floor, and which will obtain a great business success.
- 1963 presentation of the first 4x4.
- 1964 birth of the series " Comet". The manufacture of trucks with 3 and 4 axles, as in Italy, begins.
- 1966 the range extends downwards, beginning of the manufacture of the vans.
- 1975 the heavy range is equipped with the first tilting cabins.
- 1977 at the request of the military authorities, manufacture of armored vehicles (BMR).
- 1983 the T-1 is introduced on the market.
- 1987 presentation of Troner, fruit of a collaboration with DAF and Seddon Atkinson.
- 1990 INI sells the ENASA-Pegaso unit with IVECO following an international invitation to tender. The manufacture of the models FIAT - IVECO begins in the Spanish factories.
Since 1990 ENASA to the Italian group IVECO, subsidiary of the group FIAT belongs.
