ECW one TNN was a weekly show of Catch which was diffused with the the United States on the chain The Nashville Network (now Spike TV) Fridays evenings. It was the first diffusion on the national level of the Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW).
The ECW was at the dependant origin with TNN for three years, but the chain put an end to its agreement earlier than envisaged with the ECW which had very a small budget to produce their program, and which did not want to approach the style of WCW Monday Nitro and WWF RAW Is WAR as the chain required it. Paul Heyman (owner of the ECW), did not want to change the look or to compromise any way the integrity of the ECW.
The show was poorly promoted, TNN was made publicity for the ECW that during the diffusions NASCAR and during the program of the ECW itself. To date, Paul Heyman always maintains that the solid lack of agreement with a national television channel carried out the loss of the ECW.
Paul Heyman was frustrated so much in the manner that TNN treated the ECW which it went until making a promotion to address his complete hatred towards TNN (or the chain as Heyman called on television) to the summer 2000. When the edition including promotion was diffused, TNN made censure during promotion and launched messages on the screen which denied the charges made by Heyman, questioning even by mockery on the health condition of Heyman. Heyman believed that TNN used the ECW as one would make experiments on a Guinea-pig to see whether wrestling would go on TNN whereas the owner of the chain, Viacom, was in negotiations with World Wrestling Entertainment to bring their programs on TNN and the chains of Viacom. The extravagant speeches of Heyman can be entirely seen and without censure in the DVD The Rise and Fall off ECW .
Heyman decided to recruit Don Callis, which became Cyrus , to be used with the screen as Intermédiaire for the real problem between the ECW and TNN. Callis played the part of a representative of TNN, which constantly criticized the violent nature of the programs of the ECW. Although the ECW became the show with stronger audience of TNN, this one negotiated with the World Wrestling Federation of Vince McMahon. ECW one TNN was stopped in October 2000 (the last edition being diffused the October 6th 2000) in favor of RAW Is WAR which made its appearance on the chain.
