Dune (original soundtrack)
Dune is a Original soundtrack of Toto for the film of the same name, left in December 1984. Dune is the first and, to date, the only film for which Toto composed.
Context
(in the course of drafting)The instrumental original soundtrack was recorded by the group (except the singer principal Bobby Kimball), was accompanied by the Symphony orchestra by Vienna and the choruses by the opera by Vienna, led by Marty Paich (the father of David). The members of the group contributed to the composition of the instrumental music. Louse also composed the " Prophecy Theme" , a part made up for film by Brian Eno.
The first original soundtrack contains selected pieces coming from original film, plus two pieces of dialog of film which are used as support for two titles (" Prolog" and " Conceited The floating man (The Baron) "). This first edition was published by Polydor Records.
A wide version containing of the additional titles absent from the first original soundtrack was published in 1997 by PEG Records, an independent label of Polygram. On this edition, several additional tracks present problems of master (creating an effect of tremors lasting these tracks). Moreover, certain extracts (particularly in second half of second CD) were titrated in a way incorrect or placed in the bad order. Among the positive points of the album, one finds the version of the " Title" hand; present in film (whereas the first original soundtrack contained an alternate version) and a new version of the principal credits.
However, several tracks on the two original soundtracks different from the versions heard in film or are present in a nonchronological order.
- credits of end, " Take my hand" , the orchestration does not contain which one can hear in film.
- the title " Robot fight" of the original soundtrack is present in her theatrical version, whereas the original soundtrack in long version contains the version " Alan Smithee "/TV.
- the titles " Riding the sandworm" (of the original soundtrack in long version), " Dune (Topic Serves) " , " Be a prelude to (Take my hand) " , " Paul kills Feyd" and " Final dream" (of the two versions of original soundtrack), absent from film, are replaced either by other titles, although the versions TV restore " Paul kills Feyd" in its place of origin of film and " Dune (topic Serves) " , intended to be the credits of end, was replaced by a more subtle piece, " Take my hand".
The versions TV include as much as possible the musics ever published, so that a certain confusion created when an attentive ear discovers a title covered by another.
