History
The February 19th 1416, the emperor Sigismond I {{er}} sets up the county of Savoy in duchy of Savoy , offering a political autonomy to him without precedent. The successors of Amédée VIII of Savoy (cf the counts and dukes of Savoy) carry from now on the title of duke until the erection of the duchy in kingdom. This dated February 19th remains marked as the Savoyard national festival.
The various States, duchies or kingdoms of Italy were federate only starting from 1860.
In 1860, the Italian revolution (Risorgimento) and the Plébiscites for the unification in Italy federate the various States of Italy and install the king de Sardaigne Victor-Emmanuel II of Savoy on the throne of a Constitutional monarchy with the support of the French emperor Napoleon III.
The April 23rd of the same year, at the time of the Treated of Turin, following a plebiscite (130 533 " Oui" /" Yes and zone" against 235 " Non"), the duchy of Savoy is attached conditionally to the Second Empire of the emperor Napoleon III, forming the departments of the Savoy and the Haute-Savoie.
