Ducati 999
The 999 is a sporting motor bike built by Ducati. It appeared for the first time in 2003. It with the heavy task to replace its famous elder 916, 996 and 998. The 999 presents a sliced esthetics, the lines are cut with the bill hook. It is drawn by Pierre Terblanche. The engine is a traditional twin-cylinder out of V with 90° standard Testastretta. 999
The 999 standard leaves in 2003. As opposed to what one could think, the engine has a cubic capacity of 998 cm ³. It develops 124 horses. Side left cycle, the suspensions are entrusted to Showa. It is available in version monoposto or biposto, in yellow or red.In 2005, the motor bike evolves/moves. Esthetics is worked over again. The engine, altered to approach that of the machines evolving/moving in world championship Superbike, delivers 140 horses with 9.750 rpm. The couple passes to 11,1 mkg to 8.000 rpm. The weight is in fall of 13 kg. A new color appears on the version biposto: black.
March 26th 2006, the circuit of Brand Hatch saw the launching of a special version of 749 and 999 Airwaves Replica, taking again the decoration of the machines which run the English championship of Superbike, with the hands of Gregorio Lavilla and Leon Haslam. This series is limited to 30 joined together specimens, 749 and 999. The 12.250 £ to be spent also include/understand a certificate of authenticity and an access VIP to reach the bed of the sleeve of the championship of English Superbike of its choice.
999S
The 999S is a version equipped better with the 999. One finds hanging devices drawn from the catalog Öhlins, the fork has a slightly less clearance (120 mm). The engine develops 136 horses to 9.750 rpm for a couple of 10,8 mkg with 8.000 tr/mn. It is available in version monoposto or biposto, yellow or red.In 2005, in addition to the rehandling of the pace, the engine gains 7 horses for the same mode. A version TEAM the USA, available only to the the United States, is presented in August 2006. It takes again the colors of the motor bike which runs in Superbike between the hands of Ben Bostrom and Neil Hodgson. Produced with only 150 specimens, it is sold 19.995 $.
999R
999R is a more muscular version of the 999. It is a " vraie" 999, since the engine has a cubic capacity of 999 cm ³. Boring passes to 104 mm and the race with 58,8 Misters It is announced for 139 horses with 10.000 rpm and the couple of 11 mkg with 8.000 tr/mn. As on the model S, Öhlins provides the fork and the shock absorber arrière. As it is used as a basis for engagement in Superbike, 999R is lighter than the others 999, it weighs 193 kg. It is available only in version monoposto and of red color.In 2005, the engine profits from 11 additional horses with 250 lower rpm. The couple passes to 11,9 mkg to 8.000 rpm. The weight decreases by 12 kg.
In 2004 and 2005, two special series appear with the colors of the sponsors of the firm in superbike. These two series name respectively Fila and Xerox. The first is available only in 200 specimens, for 30.000 €. It offers an exhaust competition, a cover, a crutch of stand, a chip and rims forgées. The second proposes, for 32.000 €, of the Termignoni exhausts.
