Dušan T. Bataković (Cyrillic Serb: ДушанТ. Батаковић, born the April 23rd 1957 with Belgrade) is a historian and diplomatic Serbe. After the studies of history in Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Belgrade, he worked in Institute of history in Belgrade (1983-1992) then in Institute of the Balkan Studies of the Serb Académie of Sciences and Arts (1993-1998). In January 1997 it supported the thesis of the doctorate in history ( France and formation of the parliamentary democracy in Serbia 1830-1914 ) in the Université of Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV), it teaches since 1998 the European history and methodology of history at the University of Belgrade. Directing elected official of the Institute of the Balkan Studies in October 2005 he is also editor association of the directory Balcanica as well as the special editions of the Institute.
Bataković wrote largely on the question of the Kosovo, the relations serbo-Albanian, on the origins of Balkan nationalism , the role of the army the sources of the democracy in Serbia and the impact of the Communisme on the Yugoslav area . It gives the conferences in the several universities Europeans and takes part in the conferences international, in France and elsewhere. He is also the author of a documentary series Crveno doba ( the red Time ) treating the crimes of the Yugoslav Communists in Serbia and with the Montenegro, as a book black of televised Communism.
Opposing to the mode Milošević, president of the the democratic Council of the changes (1998-2001), Bataković was appointed in January 2001 the ambassador of the Federal republic of Yugoslavia (since 2003 Serbia and Montenegro) in the Hellenic Republic. Of its return in July 2005 it was named to advise President of the Republic of Serbia. As an expert for the question of the Kosovo, he was elected in 2006 member of the Serb team of negotiations on the future statu of Kosovo, within the framework of UNO with Vienna. In July 2007 it was indicated the ambassador of Serbia to the Canada.
