Druss the legend
Appeared for the first time in the novel Legend of David Gemmell in 1984, Druss is a hero of fiction who incarnates all at the same time the virtue, the knighthood and strength of character.
He is described like a man with the imposing physique, extremely extremely, but also having a great swiftness and a formidable dexterity. He is known of all like a frightening warrior not having never been overcome in singular combat.
Thereafter, Druss appears in the novels of the Drenaï cycle: Druss the legend (vo 1993 - vf 2002), the Legend of Walk-Death (vo 1996 - vf 2000), White Wolf (vo 2003) and The Swords off Night and Day (vo 2004).
Druss is the grandson of Bardan the Killer, who was an insane psychotic, returned such by the demon residing in its axe, Snaga the cursed one.
Snaga the cursed one (or expeditrice)
Snaga the cursed one is the hatchet of Druss. She is inhabited by a demon, but made insane her preceding owner, Bardan , the grandfather of Druss. This last is hardly able to control the demon, but this axe enables him to increase its competences with the combat. Thanks to the assistance of his Rowena wife, it was able to exorcize the weapon. The demon was used later by " the old woman femme" to strengthen the weapon which it manufactured for the king ventrian Gorben. This last, just like Bardan, became insane.

Curiously, whereas it is about the first book where Druss appears, it is also the last, in the chronological order, where he appears in life. In Legend, it refers of old a 60 year old man who fears his growing old weakness, due to its age. Death gave him the choice, either to help Drenai to defend their nation and to be immortalized by a glorious death, or to live two more years and to die of old age.
It then chooses to help Drenai with their fortress of Dros Delnoch , and fell while defending wall 4. Thanks to its assistance, the fortress resisted and Drenai were saved.
First Chronicles of Druss the Legend
It is about the second appearance of Druss in a book of David Gemmell. But the novel introduces an young man who will become an alive legend: chronologically, we are thus at the beginning of its adventures.
The history reports its childhood in a simple village, as a logger, where he lives with his father, Bress . In this book, we also see it falling in love with Rowena, and marrying it. Rowena had the capacity to feel the thoughts of the others and to leave its body to travel in another plan. At the time of an attack against his village, the father of Druss is killed and Rowena captured. He was made wish avenge his father and help his wife.
Druss took the axe and the armor of his/her grandfather, Bardan the killer, and began his search. The first nobody whom it met after the death of his father was a man named Shadak , which taught in Druss the code of honor for which he will live and die:
- never rapes a woman, never makes evil with a child.

- And never lets the lure of gain lead you to the continuation of the evil.

It attacked then the camp of the gangsters retaining his wife captive with the assistance of Shadak (and not Sieben the Poet, as indicated in Légende). It met Sieben thereafter and the two fellow travellers became inseparable, Sieben regularly showing of wisdom and reflection to help Druss.
The Legend of Walk-Death
It is about the third appearance of Druss, but the second by chronological order. In this book, Druss is old of about thirty year, and travels towards north with a Drenai ambassador. It accompanies by the athletes Drenai joining an athletic competition similar to our Olympic Games.
During the voyage, Druss overcome a Drenai fighter during a match of drive, and have to replace it for the event to come. Once arrived on the spot, it met Klay , the fighter of the country of north. This last was wounded by an arrow and required of Druss to find the stones of cure, hidden in the Nadir country.
It then joined several Nadir in an old man extremely given up, where a battle took place between several Nadir clans. Druss helped the defenders, who were under the orders of an young man named Talisman , and helped them with the victory.
Finally, the stones were found, but Druss was able too late to save Klay. The stones were then returned in Nadir, and their shamans used them to restore the magic in the Nadir country. Another consequence was that the eyes of Talisman became purple. It also chooses a new name, Ulric , and was harnessed with the unification of the Nadir tribes.
In the epilog, the meeting between Druss and Ulric present in Légende are told from the point of view of Ulric. Indeed, in Legend , Druss did not recognize Talisman in Ulric.
White Wolf
In this book, Druss the Legend appears old approximately 45 years, like auxiliary character. The hero names Olek Skillgannon , or Skillgannon curses it. It was an young man when the armies of Gorben (with Druss as champion) conquered its native land (Naashan). Become adult, he became general of the Queen witch Jianna , and receives the Swords of the Night and the Day. He left finally the queen, after she had given him the order to destroy a whole city. He carried out the order, but left while having lost all his illusions.
He travelled in north, always fighting against the démoniaques forces of the swords, which were had. There, continued by the revenge on the Queen, it met sick Druss. Together, they fought to the temple of Ustarte, where Skillgannon overcame finally its rival of always, that which had the Swords of Blood and Fire.
Cured, Druss turned over at his place, in the Skoda mountains. It took under its wing an young girl, but she does not reappear in any later book but any door to believe that
The Swords off Night and Day
In this book, centuries were passed since the death of Druss. It there is only seen very briefly. Druss is in a world between paradise and hell, and helps the weak hearts to reach their destination. It was ressuscity, thanks to a piece of its skeleton, to help Skillgannon to overcome a démoniaque queen who took the control of the Drenai grounds.
